Joseph (Joey) Hardee was born in Columbia, SC and moved with his family to the Oak Grove area at age eight. He graduated from Lexington High School, attended the University of South Carolina and is a huge Gamecock fan. Over 32 years ago, at the young age of 19, Joey opened Joey’s Sandwich Shop in Gilbert, SC and this is where he eventually met his wife.
Joey is married to the love of his life, Devona Youmans, and they have five children: Joseph, Jr. (19); Hogan (17); Blaine (15); Saylor (13); and Edie-Raine (11). Joseph, Jr. is a graduate of Gilbert High School and attends Spartanburg Methodist College. Hogan, Blaine, Saylor and Edie-Raine all attend Gilbert Schools. Devona manages Joey’s Sandwich Shop, while Joey is the Facility Manager at PASCON in Lexington.
Joey believes in giving back to his community. He has served on the Gilbert-Summit Rural Water District since 1999 and was elected Chairman in August 2015. In September 2015, he was appointed to the Joint Municipal Water and Sewer Commission.
With five children, a small business and community involvement, in his limited spare time, Joey enjoys golf. For the past 27 years, he has volunteered at the Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta, Georgia.
Joey is honored and excited about the Dancing with the Stars Lexington competition. He and his family love Lexington One schools. He wants to help raise money to continue the strength and progress of Lexington One to become the premier public education district in the nation.
