Capt. Adam Myrick
Captain Adam Myrick joined the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department as Public Information Officer in June 2015. In his role as PIO, Myrick is responsible for media relations, crisis communication and issues management, along with the agency’s social media and digital platforms.
A Lander University graduate with a degree in mass communications, Adam has been working in or with broadcast and print media outlets since 1995. His first job in a newsroom came at The Index-Journal in Greenwood. Adam then went on to cover news and sports as an anchor, reporter and producer at radio and television stations in the South Carolina Upstate and Dallas, Texas.
He jumped to “the other side of the news story” in 2004 when he became a spokesman for the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control. Prior to joining the sheriff’s department, Adam served BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina’s subsidiaries and foundation as media spokesman.
On a more personal note, his wife, Julie, is the treasurer of Lake Murray Elementary School’s PTA and a frequent volunteer at the school. They have lived in Lexington since 2006 and have two children in Lexington One – a son at Lake Murray Elementary and a daughter at Lexington Middle.
Despite living in a college football hotbed, Adam’s family is somewhat of an anomaly in that football day at their house is Sunday. They are die-hard Washington Redskins fans who build Sunday afternoons around what time the Redskins kick off.
As a proud Lexington One parent, Adam is excited to be a part of this year’s Dancing with the Stars Lexington!
